German municipal libraries host book rally and summer reading club for children
The municipal library in Grasbrunn, Germany, organized its annual book rally on 16 June. Fifty‑two children aged six to 14 solved clues in books, uncovering the password “Heinzelmännchen,” and received awards at a ceremony in which Mayor Sebastian Stüwe played the role of a luck‑fairy. The event was supported by the local Kreissparkasse and the LEGO company.
The city library in Östringen launched the “HEISS AUF LESEN” summer reading club on 13 July, running until 20 September. Children and teenagers in grades 5‑8 can earn a lottery ticket for each book read, receive a certificate after the first book, and also complete optional creative tasks. Registration began on 7 July, and the program concludes with a final event on 26 September.
