German municipalities present municipal heat planning results

Municipalities in Germany are advancing their municipal heat planning (KWP) to guide future energy transitions and heating infrastructure.

In Eilenburg, the city council will present its final report on municipal heat planning on October 5, 2026. Following the presentation, an information market will be held at the Bürgerhaus Eilenburg to discuss heat supply options, including heat networks, renewable energies, and energy-efficient renovations. Experts from the Sächsische Energieagentur GmbH (SAENA) and the Consumer Advice Center of Saxony will be available to assist citizens.

In Neustadt, the first municipal heat plan will be presented on September 29, 2026. Mayor Dominic Herbst noted that the plan serves as an orientation tool for property owners to decide between individual solutions and local heat networks. The presentation will cover target scenarios for future heat supply, the role of central heat networks, and the use of decentralized technologies such as heat pumps.
