Germany sees widespread start to 2026 vocational training year
Various German municipalities, public institutions, and private companies have reported the commencement of the 2026 vocational training and dual study year.
Public administration offices in Pfaffenhofen, Attendorn, Ravensburg, and Traunstein have welcomed new apprentices and volunteers to support local governance and social services. In Darmstadt, the Regierungspräsidium welcomed 15 new inspector candidates for dual studies in public administration. In Jena, 35 trainees began roles across 18 different directions, including fire services and municipal services.
In the private and utility sectors, Wuppertaler Stadtwerke (WSW) welcomed 47 new trainees across 15 professions, while the L.I.T. Group in Brake started 41 new trainees, primarily in logistics. The Glöckle Group in Schweinfurt also welcomed 16 new staff members. Additionally, Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Bayern Mitte began training for 17 apprentices and two dual students.
To support these transitions, the Region Hannover has expanded its support for students moving from school to professional life by increasing funding for projects like ‘Ausbildungslotsen’ and ‘Startklar’. Furthermore, the ‘beruf & bildung’ career fair is set to debut in Lübeck to connect young professionals with regional employers.
