German Navy successfully tests Israeli Lora missile in North Atlantic

The German Navy has successfully completed a previously secret test of the Israeli-developed Lora ballistic missile system in the North Atlantic. The trial, conducted by two German frigates in the sea area between Ireland and Iceland, demonstrated the system's ability to strike targets with high precision from maritime platforms.

Developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), the Lora system is a long-range attack weapon capable of reaching distances exceeding 500 kilometers. Navy Inspector Jan Christian Kaack described the successful launch as a historic milestone that opens a new chapter in naval deterrence and defense readiness for Germany and its allies.

The potential procurement of the Lora system is being considered as part of Germany's broader defense programs initiated following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The goal is to significantly increase the reach and striking power of the German Navy to deter potential Russian aggression.
