Gaza children face mass casualties and displacement after 1,000 days of war

Save the Children reports that the Gaza Strip has endured 1,000 days of conflict, leaving children in a humanitarian catastrophe. The United Nations estimates that at least 21,000 children have been killed by Israeli forces, with a further 275 deaths recorded since the cease‑fire was announced in October. Roughly 800,000 children—four out of five—have been displaced at least once, and about 370,000 homes are damaged, affecting 77% of the enclave’s housing.

The report also highlights severe food insecurity, with 245,000 children threatened by malnutrition, and the complete shutdown of regular schooling for all 625,000 school‑age children. Voices from the ground underscore the desperation: “Wir könnten jeden Moment sterben,” says 14‑year‑old Amani, while 16‑year‑old Reem adds, “Das Wichtigste ist, dass wir Kinder gehört werden.”

Save the Children calls on governments worldwide to halt weapons deliveries to Israel, ensure unrestricted humanitarian aid, and hold accountable those responsible for violations of children’s rights.
