German officials visit nursing services and training centers
German politicians are conducting site visits to engage with the nursing sector and address systemic challenges in care and training.
In Sinsheim, Dirk Beyer visited Pflegedienst Mayerhöffer as part of the ‘Politics meets Care’ initiative. The visit focused on the daily realities of nursing care and day care services, emphasizing how political decisions impact the quality of care for patients and the relief provided to family caregivers.
In Worms, Dirk Beyer met with the Central Training Center for Nursing Professions, managed by Klinikum Worms gGmbH. Discussions centered on improving the framework for nursing education to attract much-needed specialists. Key issues raised included the need for school social work to support trainees facing personal or financial burdens, the necessity for childcare that aligns with training schedules, and the reduction of bureaucratic hurdles in recognition processes. Digitalization and the shortage of technical staff to support digital learning were also identified as critical areas for improvement.
