German outdoor pools report high summer attendance

Outdoor swimming facilities in Haltern and Herten reported high visitor numbers following a summer of intense heat. In Haltern am See, local outdoor pools and the Silbersee lake experienced record-breaking attendance.

In Herten, the Copa Ca Backum outdoor pool recorded approximately 23,000 guests this season, a significant increase from the 16,000 visitors recorded in 2025. While management expressed satisfaction with the season, they noted that a shortage of skilled workers continues to pose challenges for organizing reliable pool operations.
