German Personnel Council Prize 2026 shortlist announced for ten public‑service projects
An expert jury has shortlisted ten projects for the German Personnel Council Prize 2026, an award that recognises exemplary work by staff councils, youth and trainee representatives, and disabled representatives in the public sector. The nominees include the overall staff council of Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the main staff council for Berlin’s authorities and courts, the Bundespolizei senior disabled representation at the BMI, the staff council of Berlin’s Youth, Education and Family Senate department (Spandau office), the school staff council of Bremen, the police youth and trainee representation of North‑Rhine Westphalia (Düsseldorf), the main police staff council of the Rhineland‑Palatinate interior ministry (Mainz), the overall staff council of Landkreis Nordwestmecklenburg (Wismar) and the staff council and disabled representatives of Wuppertal’s building‑management department.
The prize, initiated by the trade‑journal Der Personalrat of Bund‑Verlag and awarded since 2010, presents gold, silver and bronze main awards plus separate honours for youth/trainee representatives, disabled representatives and a special prize sponsored by the insurance firm Debeka. The official ceremony will take place on 11 November 2026 in Berlin during the Schöneberger Forum, organised by the DGB Bildungswerk e.V. and the DGB.
