German police check motorcycles, cyclists and e‑scooters

On 12 July the police of Märkischer Kreis carried out a focused traffic‑safety operation on popular motorcycle routes. Officers inspected 339 road users, warned 103 motorcyclists and recorded 69 speed offences, 21 technical breaches and two cases of riding without a licence. Several illegal exhaust systems were seized and one bike was confiscated.

The next day, police in Paderborn, Salzkotten and Bad Lippspringe conducted a large‑scale check of cyclists and e‑scooter riders. Fifty‑one violations were logged, including mobile‑phone use, speed excess, unauthorised e‑scooter modifications and a 16‑year‑old fleeing a stop. A 33‑year‑old e‑scooter rider was also tested for drug use.

Both actions are part of regional traffic‑safety programmes – the Network Krad and the state‑wide #LEBEN strategy – intended to lower the number of serious accidents involving two‑wheeled vehicles.
