German police detain individuals with outstanding warrants at train stations
A 49‑year‑old Polish woman traveled on an Intercity Express from Berlin to Düsseldorf without a ticket and without cash or identification. Police stopped her at Stendal station, found an execution warrant for an unpaid €300 fine, and transferred her to a detention facility where she was charged again for benefit fraud.
On 15 July 2026, a 38‑year‑old German man was checked by federal police at Dessau main station. An outstanding warrant for an unpaid €55 fine was discovered. He refused an alcohol test, became aggressive, attacked the officers and damaged a police officer’s glasses. After being restrained, he was taken to a hospital for a blood draw and subsequently charged with resistance, assault, insult, threat, property damage and bodily injury.
