German police host motorcycle safety event and clarify cycling rules

Police inspectors from Nienburg/Schaumburg and Hameln‑Pyrmont/Holzminden organized a motorcycle safety outreach on 27 June 2026 in Rinteln, Weserbergland. The "Coffee instead of fines" event, held at the local firehouse, offered riders information on accident causes, safe riding techniques, and modern rescue equipment, and included participation from the ADAC and the German Red Cross.

In the Allgäu region, police officials explained the legal obligations for road cyclists and racing bikers. They emphasized that marked bike paths (signs 237, 240, 241) must be used when present, with fines for non‑compliance, and outlined exceptions for unsuitable paths. The guidance also covered where cyclists may ride, rules for riding side‑by‑side, and special provisions for children.

Both initiatives aim to reduce traffic accidents involving two‑wheel users by increasing public awareness of speed, road‑wear, and compliance with traffic regulations.
