German police probe thefts and drunken driving; Swiss learner rider fined for 148 km/h speeding

A laptop and its grey bag were left on a public bus on 31 March 2025, taken by an unknown individual who fled; authorities have released surveillance images and are asking the public for tips. In a separate incident on 17 June 2026, a 31‑year‑old woman with a blood‑alcohol level of 1.54 ‰ drove a Dodge RAM while intoxicated, crashed into a garden gate in Marienwerder and now faces a licence suspension and criminal proceedings. A stolen mini‑excavator, equipped with GPS, was recovered in a Fiat Ducato abandoned on Fichtestraße in Bernau after a Berlin construction‑site theft on the night of 16 June 2026.

In Hallau, Switzerland, a learner‑driver on a motorcycle was recorded travelling at 148 km/h on the Neunkircherstrasse, far exceeding the 80 km/h limit. The rider, holding a restricted A‑category licence, was later arrested, had all driving entitlements withdrawn and was charged with a qualified gross traffic violation.

Both investigations highlight increased police action on theft and serious traffic offences in the region.
