Germany seizes 33,000 Nazi-themed music recordings in pan-European raid
German authorities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern have conducted a large-scale operation targeting the production and distribution of Nazi-themed music. Police seized approximately 33,000 recordings, including CDs, vinyl records, and cassettes, which prosecutors described as containing “national socialist, anti-Semitic, racist, and dehumanizing ideology.”
During searches of the residences of four primary suspects—aged 43, 48, 52, and 55—officials recovered over 20,000 recordings, 130 data storage devices such as hard drives and mobile phones, and assets valued at approximately 2 million euros. The suspects are accused of being members of a right-wing criminal organization that collaborated since before 2020 to market this content.
The investigation extended beyond Germany, with searches conducted at production sites in Estonia, Italy, Poland, and the Czech Republic. While the mere possession of such recordings is not generally illegal in Germany, the authorities are targeting the distribution of propaganda from unconstitutional organizations and the dissemination of hate speech.
