European investigation into Nazi music distribution
Overview
German authorities and international police launched a widespread investigation into a suspected right-wing extremist criminal organization involved in the production and sale of Nazi-related music. The operation targeted the distribution of National Socialist, antisemitic, racist, and inhumane ideologies through various media formats.
Initial raids spanned multiple German states and extended to Estonia, Italy, Poland, and the Czech Republic. Investigators focused on four primary suspects, aged 43 to 55, alongside several other individuals in Germany and Berlin. Prosecutors allege these suspects have collaborated since before 2020 to market content containing “national socialist, anti-Semitic, racist, and dehumanizing ideology.”
Subsequent developments in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern revealed the seizure of approximately 33,000 media items, including CDs, vinyl records, and cassettes. During searches of the four primary suspects' residences, officials recovered over 20,000 of these recordings, 130 data carriers such as mobile phones and hard drives, and assets valued at approximately 2 million euros. While possession of such recordings is not inherently illegal in Germany, authorities are investigating the distribution of propaganda from unconstitutional organizations and the storage of materials for dissemination.
