Germany reports various crimes including fraud, robbery, and organized extortion

Various criminal incidents and fraud schemes have been reported across Germany, involving diverse methods such as online scams, physical robberies, and thefts.

In several fraud cases, victims were targeted through digital means. A 76-year-old woman in Monheim lost a five-figure sum to a ‘love scammer’ via messenger services, while a woman in Künzelsau lost approximately 1,300 euros through a fake Instagram home-working scheme. Police have also warned of ‘Ghost-Pairing’ scams on WhatsApp where attackers attempt to gain account access via suspicious links or QR codes.

Physical crimes include a life-threatening attempted robbery in Buchloe and a violent attack in Hamburg-Wandsbek where a 50-year-old man was critically injured during a robbery. In Duisburg, an 87-year-old woman was targeted by a child who stole her gold necklace, and in Dresden, perpetrators posing as police officers robbed seniors in their homes.

Theft reports also include the loss of copper cables at a school in Koblenz, a theft of a grave lantern in Schernfeld, and a series of bicycle and battery thefts in Münster that led to the sentencing of a 63-year-old man. Additionally, authorities in Mannheim have arrested six members of an organized group, referred to as the ‘Gen-Z-Mafia,’ for extortion and arson targeting business owners.
