German regions Ostallgäu and Bayreuth join 2026 Stadtradeln bike‑for‑climate challenge

The Ostallgäu district in Bavaria will take part in the nationwide "Stadtradeln" climate‑action from 14 June to 4 July 2026, urging residents to log bicycle kilometres for health and carbon‑reduction goals. County employee Susanne Rosenstihl will serve as the official "Stadtradel‑Star", promoting everyday cycling and sharing her experiences on a dedicated blog. Participants can record rides via the Stadtradeln app or the website.

Bayreuth will run its own segment of the campaign from 6 June to 26 June, organised by Bayreuth Marketing & Tourism GmbH. The city offers three guided two‑hour bike tours on 6, 13 and 20 June, limited to twelve riders each, and encourages individuals to join existing teams or form new ones of at least two people. The most active cyclists can win prizes, and a ranking will be released in autumn.

Both initiatives are part of an international climate‑alliance effort involving more than 3 000 German towns and cities.
