German solar association warns of investment barriers

The German Solar Association (BSW-Solar) has warned that upcoming legislative changes could significantly increase investment costs and hinder the expansion of solar energy in Germany. The association identified several regulatory drivers that could raise the cost of electricity from new solar parks by more than one cent per kilowatt-hour.

Key concerns include the planned EEG amendment, the 'Netzpaket' (grid package), and grid fee reforms. Specific cost drivers cited by the association include the potential reduction of compensation payments during temporary grid bottlenecks, limits on feed-in capacity, planned grid fees for solar power injection, and additional municipal levies. BSW-Solar is calling on the Bundestag to revise these drafts to avoid creating new market barriers and to prevent making solar energy more expensive.
