German specialist doctor earns over €5,000 net per month, reveals salary details

A doctor in his second year of specialization in Germany publicly shared his pay slip to illustrate earnings. His basic gross salary was €5,945.86, but after four on‑call shifts—including three 24‑hour shifts and one 14½‑hour shift—and additional overtime of 74.5 hours, his total gross monthly pay rose to €8,739. After taxes and contributions, the net amount received was €5,007.

The figures show that a specialist doctor in Germany can earn nearly double the average German net wage of €2,800‑€3,000 per month, though high living costs in cities such as Munich, Frankfurt and Hamburg offset the higher income. The disclosure sparked discussion about doctor remuneration and working conditions in the country.
