German Stadtradeln 2026 drives climate‑friendly cycling, saves CO₂

The ecumenical “Kirche radelt” team, comprising members of the Evangelical Church District Cologne and the Catholic city deanery, rode 10,488 km in the 2026 Stadtradeln. Their effort avoided about 1,732 kg of CO₂ and placed the team 50th out of 654 participants in the regional ranking.

Nationwide, the 2026 Stadtradeln attracted 39 teams and 689 cyclists who together covered 174,167 km, cutting roughly 28,563 kg of CO₂. At the award ceremony on 2 August in Nördlingen, individual winner Eslam Payenda was honoured, with Otto Friske and Gerlinde Friske taking second and third places. The team “Fit for Life” secured first place in the team competition, highlighting the event’s role in promoting sustainable mobility and community engagement.
