German suspect indicted for running darknet drug marketplace Archetyp Market

The Generalstaatsanwaltschaft Frankfurt has charged a 31‑year‑old man alleged to be the founder and administrator of the darknet marketplace "Archetyp Market." The platform operated until 2025 and, according to the Bundeskriminalamt, processed about 2.3 million orders worth roughly €330 million. Around 600 000 customer accounts accessed about 17 000 offers from 3 000 professional sellers, trading millions of pills and 326 litres of narcotics such as cocaine, fentanyl, heroin and crystal meth, as well as cannabis products, new psychoactive substances and medicines. Payments were made exclusively with cryptocurrency, and the suspect earned an estimated €20 million through escrow fees and a 5 % cut of sales. He was arrested in Barcelona by a Spanish police special unit in June 2025 and is now held in German pre‑trial detention. Authorities have seized cryptocurrencies, cash and luxury vehicles valued at about €10 million. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
