German television updates: Liebling Kreuzberg and Tatort relaunch

German television is seeing significant updates to its long-running crime franchises. The cult series ‘Liebling Kreuzberg’, which originally starred Manfred Krug, is being continued through the series ‘Kanzlei Liebling Kreuzberg’. Two new feature-length films, ‘Ein Meisterstück’ and ‘Auf Augenhöhe’, are scheduled for release in October.

Additionally, the ‘Tatort’ series is undergoing a major transition in Kiel following the departure of long-time investigator Klaus Borowski. A new team led by Mila Sahin (Almila Bagriacik) and supported by police psychologist Elli Krieger (Karoline Schuch) is debuting in a two-part episode titled ‘Unter Freunden’. The new direction for the Kiel-based investigations is noted for its darker tone and focus on complex psychological and corporate crime elements.
