German tourist dies at Salou beach in Tarragona

An 81-year-old German woman died on Sunday afternoon at Llevant beach in Salou, Tarragona. Emergency services were alerted at 18:20, and lifeguards extracted the woman from the water to begin resuscitation efforts. Despite interventions by the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM), she could not be revived.

At the time of the incident, the beach was under lifeguard supervision with a green flag flying. The Guardia Civil has taken charge of the investigation and identified the victim. This incident follows the recent death of a 73-year-old German woman at La Rubina beach in Castelló d’Empúries, Girona. According to Protecció Civil, there have been 23 beach-related fatalities along the Catalan coast this summer.
