German towns host successful bike‑promotion events in Gunzenhausen and Walldorf

Gunzenhausen celebrated the annual STADTRADELN bike‑action day on 20 June 2026, drawing large numbers of cyclists to the town square for a programme that included a walk‑able map of Bavaria’s bike network, cargo bikes, a senior rickshaw, a bike‑wash station and a demonstration Handybike. Mayor Matthias Hörr highlighted the event as part of the town’s broader mobility shift, noting that the bicycle is “more than just a means of transport; it is a statement for sustainability and environmental protection.”

In Walldorf, the RadKultur initiative set up an information stall at the Drehscheibe during the city’s mobility week (14‑20 June). Organisers aimed to encourage commuters to use the new Walldorf‑Wiesloch cycling route. Representative Robin Gosah said, “Die Leute haben Lust aufs Radfahren,” and added, “Wir wollten die Pendler mitnehmen.” Police and municipal officials reminded cyclists to dismount at the Drehscheibe, a measure intended to raise awareness rather than impose penalties. Free snacks and promotional items were offered to visitors.
