German towns kick off 2026 Stadtradeln bike‑kilometer campaign

More than 3,000 German municipalities are taking part in the nationwide 2026 Stadtradeln action, encouraging residents to log bicycle kilometres between early June and early July. The campaign, which has attracted over 220,000 participants since its launch, aims to promote everyday cycling and contribute to climate protection.

In the region of Upper Swabia, several towns join for the first time. Tannheim opens registrations on 10 June, while Ochsenhausen will host a free‑voters‑led ride that evening. Memmingen celebrates its participation with a kickoff on 17 June that includes live music, a school‑riding programme and prize draws for teams exceeding 500 km and individuals over 100 km.

Further south, the Waldeck‑Frankenberg district runs its segment from 4 June to 24 June, beginning with a public event on the Klostervorplatz in Frankenberg. The day features information booths, a bicycle rally, repairs, and entertainment for families. Both regions invite schools, companies and clubs to form their own teams and compete for local awards.
