German regional transit operators launch real‑time mobility apps

The Verkehrsverbund Großraum Nürnberg (VGN) upgraded its "VGN Fahrplan & Tickets" app to display live locations of buses, trams and U‑/S‑buses on a map, indicating delays in red and on‑time service in green. The update also adds push notifications for boarding alerts, a checkout reminder, and a memory aid for ongoing trips.

Magdeburg’s public‑transport operator, Magdeburger Verkehrsbetriebe (MVB), released a beta "MVB App" that combines timetable information, ticket purchase (including credit‑card, Apple Pay, PayPal and soon Google Pay) and service notices. The app will later integrate digital Germany‑Ticket and marego subscriptions and replace the former easy.GO app.

Both updates aim to give commuters real‑time information and streamlined ticketing across their respective regions.
