German volunteer projects receive regional and national funding
Various volunteer and community projects in Germany have received significant funding through regional and national programs.
In the Oder-Spree district, four projects were awarded a total of 16,000 euros through the ‘machen! 2026’ competition. Organized by the German Federal Commissioner for East Germany and the German Foundation for Engagement and Volunteering (DSEE), the competition awarded over 830,000 euros across various categories. Winners include a German-Polish fanfare group from Müllrose, a traditional baking and gardening project in Pillgram, and a nature trail project in Eisenhüttenstadt.
In the Hochtaunuskreis region, four associations received a combined 45,658 euros from the Hessian Ministry for Digitalization and Innovation’s ‘Ehrenamt digitalisiert!’ program. Recipients include the Freilichtmuseum Hessenpark, Luftsportclub Bad Homburg, Herzen für eine Neue Welt, and Bad Homburger Schwimmclub 1927. The funding is intended to support investments in hardware, software, and the digitalization of administrative processes to reduce organizational burdens on volunteers.
