German Youth Volunteering Receives Certificates and New Mentor Program Launches

In the Schwaben region of Germany, 33 teenagers from the Sebastian‑Lotzer‑Realschule, Bernhard‑Strigel and Vöhlin‑Gymnasium were awarded certificates for completing at least 24 hours of volunteer work during the school year. The ceremony was led by Mayor Jan Rothenbacher and praised by Gottfried Voigt of the regional crafts guild. Activities included assistance in senior homes, children’s gymnastics, a world‑store, kindergartens and a wheelchair‑transport service for municipal events, a joint effort of the citizen’s foundation and Vöhlin‑Gymnasium.

Meanwhile, the city of Rosenheim announced the "Qualipaten Rosenheim" project, which seeks adult volunteers to mentor secondary‑school students from the 7th grade onward. Volunteers act as reliable contacts, offering guidance on school and personal issues, assisting with learning strategies, and supporting the transition from school to vocational training. The programme provides training, insurance, regular meetings and free continuing‑education opportunities for its mentors.

Both initiatives aim to strengthen youth engagement in the community, provide valuable experience for participants, and encourage long‑term commitment to volunteer work.
