Germany mentoring and youth development programs
Overview
In July 2026 Germany launched two distinct mentoring initiatives aimed at strengthening future leadership and community engagement. On 6 July, the cross‑mentoring programme CEO der Zukunft opened applications for its second season, targeting the upcoming generational shift in municipal and energy company leadership. Backed by regional government and major sponsors, the 40‑mentor/40‑mentee scheme will begin in January 2027 with a focus on the energy sector and aims to address challenges such as the energy transition, digitalisation and talent shortages.
Later in the month, on 25 July, a separate effort highlighted youth volunteering in the Schwaben region, awarding certificates to 33 teenagers for completing 24 hours of community service. The same day, Rosenheim announced the "Qualipaten Rosenheim" project, recruiting adult volunteers to mentor secondary‑school students, offering guidance on schooling, learning strategies and vocational pathways. Both programmes seek to cultivate responsible citizens and prepare the next generation for leadership roles, reflecting a broader push in Germany to embed mentorship across professional and civic spheres.
