Germany advances renewable energy via battery storage and agri-PV
Germany is seeing advancements in renewable energy infrastructure through new battery storage partnerships and large-scale solar integration.
Sungrow Deutschland GmbH and be. storaged GmbH have signed a framework agreement to cooperate on large-scale battery energy storage (BESS) projects. The partnership aims to deliver a pipeline of 1.6 GWh of storage capacity over the next two years. The agreement focuses on standardizing processes and coordinating technical solutions to accelerate project execution and improve efficiency in the energy transition.
In Schönefeld, the Berliner Stadtgüter GmbH (BSG) has launched Germany’s largest agri-photovoltaic plant. Spanning approximately 76 hectares, the facility allows for simultaneous agricultural use and solar power generation. The system utilizes 74,064 solar modules mounted 3.50 meters above the ground, oriented to follow the sun's path. This configuration is expected to generate 25 to 30 percent more electricity than fixed modules, providing power for approximately 16,000 households annually.
