Germany arrests suspected IS combatant in Hessen

The German Federal Prosecutor's Office has ordered the arrest of a suspected member of the Islamic State (IS) in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district of Hessen.

According to the arrest warrant, the suspect is accused of joining the terrorist organization in Iraq by early 2016 and serving as a combatant in various units until the spring of 2017. The individual faces charges of membership in a terrorist organization abroad. Following the arrest by the Federal Criminal Police Office, the suspect is scheduled to appear before an investigating judge at the Federal Court of Justice to address the arrest warrant and the decision regarding pre-trial detention.
