Germany broadcasting fee reductions for people with disabilities

In Germany, certain individuals may be eligible for a reduction in the public broadcasting fee (Rundfunkbeitrag), which is primarily used to fund ARD, ZDF, and Deutschlandradio. While the standard monthly fee is 18.36 euros per household, people with specific disabilities can apply for a reduced rate of 6.12 euros per month.

To qualify for this reduction, a recognized degree of disability (GdB) alone is insufficient; specific markers on a disability certificate are required. Eligibility includes individuals with a GdB of at least 80 and the 'RF' marker who cannot permanently attend public events, as well as blind or visually impaired individuals with a GdB of at least 60 and the 'RF' marker.
