Germany Closes A31 and A1 Autobahns for Multi-Day Repairs
The A31 motorway near Dorsten will be fully closed from the evening of 18 June until the morning of 21 June for a comprehensive resurfacing of approximately 25,000 m² of asphalt over a two‑kilometre stretch. The work follows earlier repairs that left the road uneven, prompting speed limits of 120 km/h (80 km/h when wet). Drivers are advised to use detours via the B67 to the A3 and local routes through the U82, Freudenbergstraße, Weseler Straße, Maassenstraße and Östricher Straße/Königsberger Allee. The nearby Lüningskamp parking lot will also be closed during the works.
Separately, the A1 between Kamen and Unna will be fully shut from 20:00 on 19 June to 05:00 on 22 June as part of the ongoing renovation of the Dortmund/Unna interchange. The main carriageway is being renewed to accommodate future traffic flow changes, with alternative routes signed via the A2 and A45, as well as a local detour using the A2, B236 and B1. These closures are part of a larger, multi‑year modernization effort for the regional highway network.
