The A31 highway between Dorsten and Schermbeck in Westfalen will be fully closed to traffic heading toward Bottrop from 20:00 on Thursday, 18 June, until 10:00 on Sunday, 21 June. Prior to the full closure, a single lane will operate on the same direction from 9:00 to 15:00 between Monday, 15 June and Wednesday, 17 June, and again on Thursday, 18 June. Drivers are advised to use detours via the B67 to the A3 toward Cologne and a local diversion through Freudenbergstraße, Weseler Straße, Maassenstraße and Ostricher Straße back to the Dorsten interchange.

Separately, the A8 “Überflieger” bridge near Zweibrücken will be closed for reconstruction work from Monday, 8 June until 17 July. The six‑week project will rebuild the dam beneath the bridge, replace guardrails, curbs, drainage and resurfacing. Traffic can continue using the nearby roundabout and alternative routes; officials expect only minor delays. Both closures are part of warranty‑covered maintenance aimed at improving road safety and durability.
