Germany details benefits and pension proof for persons with a disability rating of 100
Germany’s disability rating system (GdB) measures the impact of a physical or mental impairment on everyday life in ten‑point steps from 20 to 100. A GdB of 100 denotes the highest level of limitation and automatically qualifies a person as severely disabled. Under § 33b of the Income Tax Act, individuals with GdB 100 receive a tax allowance of €2,840 per year (or €7,400 if certain severe‑disability symbols apply). The allowance can be combined with other workplace accommodations and mobility benefits.
To claim a disability pension, the applicant must obtain a Schwerbehindertenausweis by submitting a request to the regional social‑security office or Versorgungsamt. The process includes a multi‑page form and may require a medical assessment. Once the GdB reaches at least 50, the badge is issued, and persons with a GdB 100 may retire as early as age 63, though retirement at 61 is not permitted.
