Germany enforces strict traffic parking and penalty point regulations
Drivers in Germany face specific regulations regarding car-sharing parking zones and the national penalty point system. A specific sign (1010-70), featuring four figures and a split car symbol, designates parking spots reserved exclusively for car-sharing services. Unauthorized parking in these zones can lead to fines of 55 euros or total costs exceeding 200 euros if the vehicle is towed.
Regarding driving offenses, Germany utilizes a penalty point system managed by the KBA. Points are assigned based on the severity of safety risks: one point for offenses like mobile phone use, two points for running red lights, and three points for serious violations such as driving under the influence or leaving the scene of an accident. Accumulating eight points results in the revocation of a driving license. Points expire over time, ranging from 2.5 to 10 years depending on the offense.
