Germany expands deportations to Afghanistan
The German government has increased deportations to Afghanistan, including a charter flight carrying 40 Afghan men to Kabul. According to the Ministry of the Interior, those deported were convicted of serious crimes, including sexual offenses, assault, and drug trafficking. Most of the men were transferred directly from custody.
Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated that the return of criminals is a consistent and reliable part of migration policy, emphasizing a course of control and legal enforcement.
Separately, approximately 148 Afghan women currently in Pakistan are awaiting the implementation of residency approvals for Germany. These women, including journalists and social workers who advocated for human rights, face the threat of deportation back to Afghanistan, where they risk persecution by the Taliban or forced marriage. While many have already received German approval and passed security screenings, some have reportedly faced sudden revocations of these commitments.
