Germany expands skilled‑worker hiring program for Pakistanis
Germany announced expanded employment opportunities for skilled Pakistani professionals to address labour shortages caused by an ageing population. The initiative targets a range of sectors, including healthcare, information technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing, hospitality, logistics and other technical trades, with nurses, doctors, software developers, engineers, electricians and mechanics among the most sought‑after.
Applicants must have their qualifications recognised under German standards and, for many roles, demonstrate German language proficiency at the B2 level (or English where appropriate). Germany has streamlined the visa and residence‑permit process, offering work visas, the Opportunity Card and a recognition partnership scheme. Prospective candidates are urged to apply through official government portals and authorised recruitment channels.
The program is expected to create career pathways for thousands of Pakistani workers, boost remittances to Pakistan and strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
