Germany highway works cause widespread closures on A5, A45 and A100
Extensive repairs on the Gambacher Kreuz, where the A5 and A45 intersect in the Wetteraukreis, will begin 1 July. A ramp from the A5 to the A45 toward Hanau is closed until 12 July, with detour U21 via local roads to Münzenberg. Between 15 July and 26 July the opposite‑direction ramp (A45 toward Dortmund to A5 toward Kassel) is closed, using detour U97. A final phase starting 28 July narrows both carriageways on the A45 toward Hanau to the A5 toward Basel, requiring extra travel time until 4 August.
In Berlin, the A100 will face repeated night‑time restrictions through early July for the replacement of the Ringbahn and Westend bridges. From the night of 2 July, the A115‑Messedamm link is closed, diverting traffic via the AVUS service area. On the night of 3 July only one lane remains between Hohenzollerndamm and the Funkturm triangle. A full closure between Hohenzollerndamm and Spandauer Damm occurs Thursday night into Friday, with all on‑ramps shut from about 21:00. Drivers are advised to allow extra time and use alternative routes.
