Germany hosts inaugural Christopher Street Day events in multiple cities

Multiple cities in Germany are hosting their inaugural Christopher Street Day (CSD) events to advocate for LGBTQ+ visibility and equality.

In Kulmbach, the event follows the theme ‘Kulmbach braut Vielfalt’ (Kulmbach brews diversity). A demonstration march is scheduled to move through the city center, causing temporary traffic restrictions and parking closures in the downtown area. Following the parade, an aftershow party will be held in Gößmannsreuth.

In Königs Wusterhausen, the premiere event is organized under the motto ‘Liebe statt Hass’ (Love instead of hate). Organizers expect at least 500 participants. The event will see a significant police presence due to an announced counter-protest by the far-right group ‘Jägertruppe Berlin-Brandenburg’. Brandenburg Interior Minister Jan Redmann has also announced his intention to visit and speak with organizers. Additionally, state security services are investigating the recent placement of approximately 80 posters containing xenophobic and incitement-to-hatred content in the area.
