Germany hosts local democracy engagement events
As part of the ‘Long Night of Democracy’ event series held in Germany, various local communities hosted discussions focused on civic engagement and democratic values.
In Krailling, the Kraillinger Library organized a ‘Night of Living Books’ where guests shared perspectives on democracy. Speakers included Sabine Bachmair, who discussed the experiences of women in the former GDR, and journalist Zdenek Zofka, who shared his views on the importance of active discourse beyond just voting.
In Dillingen, Mayor Christian Finkler participated in a Q&A session with approximately 30 students from local schools. The students engaged the mayor on local issues, avoiding broad partisan politics to focus on community-specific topics, such as youth facilities and urban planning.
