Germany investigates two incidents of cat abandonment

Authorities in Germany are investigating two separate incidents of animal cruelty involving the abandonment of cats.

In Maschen, a trailer containing 60 cats was left in direct sunlight for two days, leading to the deaths of two kittens. The remaining 48 cats, many of whom are pedigree breeds suspected to be from an illegal breeding operation, have been rescued. Some animals, such as a Persian cat named Denver, are being rehabilitated at the Tierzentrum Neu Wulmstorf, where they are now available for adoption.

In a separate incident near Wildenrath, police discovered 17 cats, including several young animals, abandoned in transport boxes within a bush at a local airfield. The boxes had reportedly been left there for approximately 24 hours before discovery. Police have launched an investigation into the matter and are seeking witnesses.
