Cold Front Triggers Thunderstorms Across Austria and Germany
A cold front moving into Central Europe is set to raise the risk of thunderstorms and heavy rain from Thursday onward. In Austria, forecasts call for showers and possible strong thunderstorms on Thursday, with temperatures ranging from 22 °C to 27 °C and a heightened chance of locally intense storms over the weekend.
In Germany, the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) warns of widespread cloudy conditions and occasional rain in regions such as Nordrhein‑Westfalen, with daytime highs of 19 °C‑31 °C. A brief cooling spell may bring temperatures as low as 7 °C in parts of Aachen and surrounding areas, followed by the possibility of heavy rain accumulations of up to 40 L m⁻² later in the week.
