Germany nursing home fires injure seniors and kill one resident
A fire broke out at a nursing home in Postbauer‑Heng, Bavaria, injuring five senior residents with minor smoke inhalation and rendering part of the building uninhabitable. Thirteen seniors were relocated to other facilities while police estimated damage in the medium six‑figure range.
In a separate incident, a fire at a senior residence in Markt Erlbach (Neustadt an der Aisch‑Bad Windsheim district) resulted in the death of a female resident. No other occupants were harmed. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by the criminal police, and about 50 emergency personnel responded to the scene.
