Germany pledges €13 million to fight Ebola in DRC and Uganda

Germany announced an additional €13 million contribution to contain the Ebola outbreak affecting the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. €9 million will support emergency measures in the DRC, regional health structures, and local aid programmes, while €4 million will be allocated to the World Health Organization’s emergency response.

The funding is earmarked for rapid case investigation, mobile laboratories, border health controls, protective equipment for medical staff, and public awareness campaigns. German Development Minister Reem Alabali Radovan said the aid reinforces existing surveillance, diagnosis and cross‑border disease‑containment capacities.

Germany will also continue cooperation with the African CDC, the Pandemic Fund, the Gavi vaccine alliance, CEPI and the UN Central Emergency Response Fund to strengthen overall epidemic preparedness in the region.
