Germany sees spate of residential and garden break‑ins

Police in the city urged owners to check their sheds regularly and cooperate with neighbours. Separate attempts were made on a restaurant in Hückeswagen (North Rhine‑Westphalia) and a gaststätte in Zella‑Mehlis (Thuringia), each resulting in minor property damage of roughly €1,000. Additionally, vandalism was reported in an evangelical church in Strümpfelbrunn, Baden‑Württemberg, where symbols and letters were scratched into a bench.

Authorities in each location have asked witnesses to come forward and reminded residents to secure doors, windows, and garden structures. Recent statistics show a slight rise in burglary cases in some German states, underscoring the need for vigilance.
