Germany police report multiple telephone fraud attempts

Police in Germany are reporting multiple instances of telephone-based fraud targeting elderly citizens. In Haverlah, an 80-year-old woman was targeted by an individual posing as a hospital doctor. The caller falsely claimed a family member was experiencing a medical emergency and demanded money and jewelry. The woman recognized the scam, and no loss occurred.

In Weimar, a 62-year-old woman lost 1,000 euros to a scammer impersonating a PayPal employee. The perpetrator claimed her computer had been hacked and convinced her to grant remote access to the device. After tricking her into confirming a fake credit, the scammer attempted further transfers, which were eventually blocked by her bank. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
