Germany police warn of rubbernecking dangers after A6 highway crash

Authorities are warning against the dangers of rubbernecking on highways following a multi-car collision on the A6 near Öhringen. The accident occurred on the opposite lane while emergency services were responding to a previous hazardous goods transporter crash.

Psychologist Felicitas Heyne notes that while looking at accidents is a natural human reflex to assess danger, the behavior becomes dangerous when drivers slow down, stop, or use smartphones to watch the scene. This distraction can lead to secondary accidents.
