Switzerland and Germany report series of e-scooter accidents and crimes

Authorities in Switzerland and Germany are responding to several serious incidents involving e-scooters and road traffic. In Switzerland, a scooter rider was critically injured in Beatenberg, and a multi-vehicle collision in Entlebuch left eight people injured. Additionally, an intoxicated driver in Pfaffnau collided with a motorcyclist.

In Germany, a 14-year-old in Dortmund led police on a high-speed chase on a suspected manipulated e-scooter, reaching speeds over 70 km/h before crashing into a wall. In Solingen, two 15-year-olds were injured when a rental scooter carrying both riders lost control on a steep slope.

Further criminal activity was reported in Lünen, where three youths allegedly robbed two children of their e-scooter at knifepoint or via physical assault in a local park. In response to rising accident rates, political groups in Iserlohn are proposing specialized safety training for young e-scooter riders.
