Germany rolls out MyRadl bike-sharing; pilot plan for village system in Bassum

The MyRadl bike‑sharing program was launched in Munich, deploying 6,700 new rental bicycles across 37 municipalities in the city and surrounding region. The rollout had been delayed by a legal challenge from the provider, which was later resolved, allowing the system to go live.

Separately, a climate‑focused group in the village of Bassum is seeking to establish a local bike‑rental scheme called Landradl to improve mobility. The initiative requires the formation of a supporting association and recruitment of active citizens to manage the service.

Both efforts reflect a growing push in Germany to expand sustainable, shared‑mobility options at municipal and regional levels.
