Germany Secures New Oil Supply Route After Russian Pipeline Blockage

Russia halted oil deliveries through the Druzhba pipeline, prompting Germany to seek alternative supplies for its Rosneft‑owned PCK refinery in Schweinfurt. The refinery, which processes about 12% of Germany’s oil capacity and meets roughly 90% of Berlin’s fuel demand, had relied on Kazakh crude arriving via Baltic ports after the pipeline shutdown.

Poland offered to replace the Kazakh shipments, and Polish fuel trader Unimot Paliva arranged new deliveries, including a tanker from Guyana that arrived in Gdańsk. The shipment is expected to keep the Schweinfurt plant operating at about 80% of capacity. German economy minister Katarina Reiche said the two sides are having "really good talks" on alternative sourcing, while Unimot’s spokesperson added, "we hope to expand cooperation in the future."

German officials assess that the overall national fuel supply remains secure, with ongoing discussions on diversifying sources and transport routes involving both German and Polish authorities.
